How we work
The three strategic axes of the work carried out by the Asociación Salud y Familia are:
Direct attention
To offer direct and quality care to vulnerable families and women.
Supporting Vulnerable Families and Women
Maintain sustained independent public advocacy on behalf of the needs of vulnerable families and women.
Social cohesion
Develop programmes that promote social cohesion, intercultural dialogue and active citizenship.
Comprehensive care for vulnerable families and women.
The programmes offering direct and quality care to vulnerable families and women are closely interconnected in such a way that beneficiaries have seamless access and internal circulation with the aim of consistently achieving basic social and health needs, family planning and maternal and child health care, legal counselling and psychosocial support, and care for responsible family consumption.
Asociación Salud y Familia’s mosaic of services opens a vast window of opportunities for beneficiaries and is based on common principles such as intercultural respect, beneficiary-centred care, co-production and networking with public and private organisations.

Asociación Salud y Familia has a matrix structure that facilitates a great capacity to adapt to new vulnerability profiles, favours the permanent updating of the portfolio of services and reduces general operating costs.
Our independent public advocacy activity is nourished by direct observation of the unmet needs of vulnerable families and women, the added value generated through collaborative work with public and private organisations and the interdisciplinary knowledge capital of our partners.
Active participation and intercultural dialogue with our beneficiaries are the common thread of the programmes to promote social cohesion and active citizenship, while they are also very present in the programmes of direct attention to vulnerable families and women. In fact, more than a third of new beneficiaries come to our services on the recommendation of family and friends who have previously used them.
Asociación Salud y Familia is part of the value chain of public health and social services that refer a second third of our beneficiaries to us, and also collaborates in a loyal and responsible way with social organisations, women’s associations and immigrant associations that recommend our services to the remaining third of our beneficiaries.
Asociación Salud y Familia has a small number of members who are characterised by their political plurality, their independence of judgement and their professional leadership in sectors such as community health, health services, social services, public administration, international development cooperation, teaching and research in social and political sciences.
